The Question of Joy
with speaker Robyn Huck
Are you under the impression that joy is a simple topic, rather obvious and without challenge? If so, perhaps you should get together with a dozen women and discuss it. You'll find that joy is anything but simple for many people. It's downright perplexing. There are some big questions about Christian joy that need answering. The Bible seems to promise joy, but most people don't experience it consistently. Some not at all. At times Scripture describes joy as a feeling, but then we hear things like, "Rejoice in the Lord, always!" and it sounds like we're commanded to be joyful. Can an emotion be commanded?
At our retreat on April 11th, we'll have the opportunity to wrestle with these questions and more. Robyn Huck will present three of the big questions surrounding joy: What is it? How do we get it? and How do we keep it? She'll offer some biblically grounded answers as well, but you'll have more time to grapple with the questions and the answers in small groups.
Joy, it turns out, is a rather fascinating topic. Please join us on April 11 and add your thoughts to the conversation.
