Vacation Bible School 2012

Going for Gold: God’s Team in Action

Vacation Bible School was held Tuesday, July 17 through Friday July 20 at the R.W. Black Community Center in Hanover. The theme this year was “Going for Gold: God’s Team in Action.” Eighty children from pre-kindergarten to 5th grade participated in the week’s events. Over two dozen adults, a handful of Dartmouth students, with the help of 15 teen helpers, taught classes, served snacks, organized recreation activities, assisted with crafts, and shared God’s love for us with the children.

Each day began and ended with a group program including skits and singing. The theme of “Going for Gold” used the summer Olympics as a tool for studying God’s character. Each class learned how God wins over kings and other gods, how God wins over Satan, sin & death, and how God wins in the last battle. The crafts that were created strengthened the curriculum for that day, and related games were played both inside and outside.

Friday’s closing program ended with a parent tea and slideshow of scenes from the week. You can view the slideshow on our facebook page. A big thank you to everyone who made VBS such a wonderful and memorable week!
