Community Service Day 2016
About 200 individuals participated in CRC’s Community Service Day on July 13th! Teams spread out across the Upper Valley to serve in a variety of ways. In Hanover, teams served at the Howe Library and at the Richard W. Black Community Center by organizing, cleaning windows, and caring for gardens. At Storrs Pond, a large team helped clean up the grounds by clearing brush.
In Lebanon, one team worked at Storrs Hill Ski Area to stain the deck, while another worked pulling spikes for the westward expansion of the Rail Trail. At Riverside Park and Civic Park volunteers spread mulch, pulled weeds, and cleared brush. Volunteers served at the Listen Center in Lebanon and White River Junction to organize and hang clothing. A team helped to organize and build shelving at Cover in White River Junction. Another group prepared a meal, weeded, edged, and mulched gardens at the Upper Valley Haven.
In Quechee, volunteers at the Ottaquechee School raked and cleared nature trails. Another team at the Quechee Church weeded flower gardens, painted inside, sorted books, and cleaned and organized the kitchen space. At Mid-Vermont Christian School, our largest team of 60 volunteers stained a playground set, cleaned windows, cleared brush, edged, weeded, and mulched gardens. In Norwich, a group at the Montshire Museum of Science collected and organized leaves for their leaf-cutter ants.
After the work day, everyone gathered at the Lebanon green to celebrate the with a pizza dinner. A big thank you to everyone who served!
