Fall Youth Retreat 2010
The 2010 Fall Youth retreat began on Friday, November 5th with a bus ride to Smugglers’ Notch Resort in Vermont. Twenty-three youth and eight adults from CRC(Christ Redeemer Church) were met by 15 youth and 3 adults from Redeeming Grace Church of Georgia, Vermont for a time of games and learning. The youth enjoyed time worshiping God, hearing from God’s Word and, of course, having fun.
Pastor Don Willeman and Andrew Schuman led the teaching time with talks on having an eternal perspective. The youth not only learned about the security and significance that comes from living our lives in the reality of God as our maker and judge, but also about the foolishness of making anything in this life “ultimate”. As Jesus put it, “For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. for what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself” (Luke 9:24-25).
Some of the fun included a football game with a bag of flour, a turkey, a dozen eggs, and Jeff in a chicken suit; a game of spoons; a spitball competition; and learning shuffleboard.
Thanks to all the adult volunteers who made the weekend possible, but especially to Jeff and Carissa Means for organizing the great retreat!
