Food Drive 2010
At CRC we believe it is important to support and encourage organizations that seek to better the lives of those in our community. We support organizations with financial gifts, service, and donations. As part of our support for The Upper Valley Haven, CRC hosted a Food Drive on December 12th and 19th, 2010.
The Upper Valley Haven is a local non-profit organization that provides shelter to homeless individuals and families. It also has a food shelf where individuals and families can visit once a month to collect a week’s supply of groceries. Families ‘shop’ the donations of non-perishable food items as well as dairy, meat, and produce. They can also visit as often as needed for bread and fresh produce.
We challenged CRC attendees to fill the Suburban with non-perishable food items. By the end of the second week the entire back of the Suburban was filled! It is difficult to quantify the amount of food raised but we know the boxes and cans of pasta, soup, vegetables, rice, drink boxes, flour and many other items will help re-stock the Haven’s food shelf.
Thank you to all who helped us reach our goal and especially to Joel Eshbaugh and Barb vanHoff for organizing this food drive.
