2011 Summer Youth Retreat
The 2011 Youth Retreat took place at Storrs Pond in Hanover, NH from Monday, July 11th through Saturday, July 16th. There were 119 campers from Christ Redeemer Church and Christ Memorial Church in Burlington. The week included daily Bible study, nightly talks, a tubing trip, a community service day, skit night, volleyball, swimming, card games, and other fun. The theme of the week’s studies and talks was “The Beginning of Wisdom,” with the a theme verse of Proverbs 1:7,”The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.” The talks discussed the ways we fail to fear the Lord, our obstacles to fearing the Lord, how Christ is the only one who truly feared the Lord perfectly, and what fearing the Lord looks like in our lives.
On the Sunday following the retreat campers, counselors & parents shared reflections on the impact of the week on themselves and others. You can listen to what they shared here.
